I found a button in my mum’s old button box that when pressed it into clay, produced this lovely ‘spoke’ pattern.

Full description

These textured buttons are handcrafted and fired in my small home studio. The design is formed from pressing an old button from my mum’s button box into clay. After bisque firing, the buttons were finished with a rutile blue glaze to highlight the texture. As each individual button is handcrafted, no two buttons will be exactly the same.

The buttons are approximately 18mm in diameter and 2-3mm thick.

The buttons are bisque fired before being glazed. They are then fired a second time to stoneware temperature which gives them great strength and allows them to be machine washed. The sides and backs are not glazed, leaving them with a natural ceramic finish.
