Marta

I moved to Brighton in 2017 and that's when I discovered the beautiful South Downs and Beachy Head and its picturesque views with a lighthouse. It gets very windy there and the sea goes wild!

Full description

This is an original linocut print with chine-colle.

Unframed and signed in pencil. This linoprint is part of an open edition.

Fits standard 8" x 10" frames (widely available).

About the print:

I use chine-colle to add texture and colour to the prints. This means that the black ink is printed on to a different type of paper (newspaper) - this gives the final print a textured effect as it uses two different kinds of paper.

What's the process like?

I start browsing a newspaper to look for a colour I like to match the sea. I tear it off and make sure it fits the part of the lino I want to add colour and texture to. Then I apply glue at the back of the newspaper bit and place the coloured side on the black ink (previously rolled on the lino). This is a difficult process to describe but really fun and very unpredictable! The effect of the chine-coll technique gives the final print a especial character.

This linoprint is printed on 160gsm paper using water-based relief ink and newsprint.

This print is only available for personal use.
