Pins and Needles is inspired by two of my favourite things enamel pins and embroidery! When not snazzing up a jacket I wanted to create somewhere new and unique for enamel pins to reside, that not only acts as a handy storage place but as a piece of art in it's own right. So with my trusty needle and thread in hand I've created teeny stitched responses to some of my favourite enamel pins. With this first series of ten hoops I've had the honour of collaborating with the fabulous Amy from Hello Treacle using her 'Warrior' and 'Positive Pants' pins for inspiration.

This hoop celebrates all the warrior single mums out there who are utter legends. £5 of Single Mum Warrior Enamel Pin Hoop Art Piece will be donated to Gingerbread via Work for Good who support single parent families.
Each 3 inch hoop is a limited edition embroidery and comes with the enamel pin attached with a rubber clutch so it can easily be taken off the hoop when you want to wear it, there's also a loop of bakers twine tied to the screw at the top to enable easy hanging. All pieces are signed and dated by me around the edge of the hoop. They are all delicately hand sewn on cotton with a single strand of black embroidery floss. As you can see in the photograph above I gather the excess fabric at the back together with running stitch that is pulled tight and tied in a bow. To re-stretch the embroidery, if it should loosen in the hoop over time all you need to do is untie the bow at the back, loosen the gather and pull the fabric taught again, tighten the screw at the top further, re-gather and tie the bow.
