Full description
Rockpool is a small textile box in aquamarine velvet with a textile-art lid. Colours have been kept subtle, with a delicate green starfish appliqued onto the background. Seaweed has been hand embroidered, and further texture added with needle felting and wool.
This keepsake box is perfect for keeping jewellery items safe on a bedside table, as a unique and original gift, or simply as a place to store your watch overnight.
The main body of the box outer is made of a velvet furnishing fabric offcut in a muted aquamarine colour. All the velvet pile has been carefully placed to run downwards, adding lustre to the colour effect.
The lid is an underwater seascape inspired by the rockpools I explored as a child in my estuary village, and is made from fabric I’ve handmade from scraps and offcuts, layering and cutting them, before using needle felting and embroidery to add texture. The box is fully lined in wool felt in a co-ordinating mint green. A recycled blue button has been securely stitched to the front and is used with a loop of co-ordinating thread to close the treasure box.
The handmade nature of this item means it has a rustic, raw edge look, with pokey out threads and fuzzy edges. This is entirely deliberate and is not a fault. Please ensure you are happy with the finish by checking the photographs carefully before you purchase.
This is a functional item but is not meant to withstand rough handling.
