These earrings are just so much fun! When I made the leaf cane for the background I added a small "bite mark" out of the edge of the leaf to make it look like the lady birds had been eating the leaves.
I gave the ladybirds a shimmer finish to their shells to make them more "life like" and coated the ladybirds with resin as well as the backgrounds (the previous bee earrings only the backgrounds were resin covered) to make them look shiny like in real life.

These eye catching statement earrings are a great way to make sure you get noticed! The earrings have been made from lightweight polymer clay using several different techniques.
The Background slab was created using from a cane which was sliced and placed on the blue background. The componants were backed to cure the clay, then they were sanded and buffed.
Individual ladybirds were sculpted and six dots added by hand to the shells. The ladybirds were baked and then adhered to the buffed componants.
All the finished componants were coated with UV resin to strengthen them and give a glossy finish. Finally the holes were drilled and the componants joined together.
The red componants have been made to be the exact same colour as the ladybirds. Allof the red areas have a subtle shimmer as the clay was mixed with mica powder.
The earrings are on stainless steel stud posts.
