I have made this type of item for a long time for friends and family but I wanted my market stall to reflect my love of wood and wildlife so I began to develop my own range of items to sell.
My designs are unique and they have evolved over the years into what they are now.

Full description
The 'Wee Bee Box'. For the seasonal and over winter use of solitary bees, ladybirds, lacewings and more! Part of the fascination of these 'bug hotels' is what may come to stay.
Solitary bees are wild bees which do not build and live in a communal nest but will look to shelter and nest in cavities like those in the drilled logs and bamboo. You are unlikely to ever be stung by a solitary bee as most of them do not have a sting and are not aggressive. Solitary bees are important as they are vital to the pollination of a huge variety of trees, fruit, vegetable crops and flowering plants.
Most people know Honey Bees and Bumblebees but are not so aware of solitary bees which take many diverse forms often being mistaken for other insects - there are about 250 species in the UK, perhaps the best known of these are the Red Mason Bee and the Leaf Cutter Bee.Sadly loss of habitat and pesticides have led to a huge decline in insect numbers. Insects provide vital services in the ecosystem and food for a variety of other animals. Gardens with good insect populations tend to be healthier and richer in diversity of the other animals that live there.
