Irises are my husband's favourite flowers, and I partly created this design for him. We quite often visit Wisley gardens, and a few years ago we were particularly chuffed to discover that the trial beds were planted with hundreds of different types of iris – including some in colour-schemes we'd never seen before! I've created the design here in shades of purple, but you'll also find a golden-yellow version among the items in my shop.

Full description
Two sumptuous purple irises and their rich green leaves are the stars of this little wall hanging; they're stitched onto a white background, and framed by a border in tones of purple and green.
The panel is created in stained glass patchwork, with each patch of fabric set off by an outline of black bias binding, creating a classic Art Nouveau/Tiffany effect. The blooms have petals of purple, mauve and and cream, and I've used figured silk fabrics on some of the petals and leaves to create a lovely sheen. A little tongue of gold fabric creates the centre of each blossom, and the stamens are suggested with long gold beads.
For the border, I used a random-dyed cotton in colours to complement the flowers; an overprinting of gold makes this extra rich.
The whole panel is backed and bound in plain black; a hidden casing at the top back of the quilt will hold your own batten/hanging pole.
The quilt will be sent to you cushioned with reusable bubble-wrap, and packed into a large recyclable jiffy bag. Hanging pole and fixings are not included.
