Butterflies come in many different colour-schemes, and this exotic version is my own celebration! Because each adult butterfly emerges from a chrysalis, these lovely insects have become a symbol of resurrection, and I think that the exuberance of this specimen, taking to the clear summer skies, echoes that idea of new life …

Full description
An colourful butterfly flits across a summer sky, with exotic flowers in the background.
I’ve created the panel in stained glass patchwork, with each patch of fabric set off by an outline of gold bias binding. Several of the coloured fabrics also have a gold overprinting, which adds extra glitz.
The background fabric is a blue-and-white cloud print, and the border features a drift of small brightly-coloured butterflies outlined in gold. The heart-shaped cornerpieces are created from a mauve and gold print fabric.
Gold machine embroidery creates the butterfly’s antennae, and the whole panel is backed and bound in plain royal blue, decorated with a wavy machine stitch.
A hidden casing at the top back of the quilt will hold your own batten/hanging pole.
The quilt will be sent to you cushioned with reusable bubble-wrap, and packed into a large recyclable jiffy bag. Hanging pole and fixings are not included.
