The idea is to create something new from old, found by chance, full of history and character.
To present and deliver unique Eco Friendly gifts in Sustainable Packaging.
Reuse and repurpose materials that would otherwise be thrown away.
To capture times gone by, preserve history, memories and create new stories from old ceramics.
To produce one of a kind gifts, unique in every way.
I love collecting things discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. My favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-created into something new. Bits and bobs of lives all waiting to find new homes.

Additional terms
Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each titled piece comes with bio of where the ceramic came from, known history, original information and when the artwork was created. Some ceramics collected are used as found, while others are cut randomly which will shape the final picture. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Shard Discovered
Percy Beck, The River Tees
January 2021
Handcrafted into Pendant/Decoration
May 2026
In January 2021 I found this wonderful piece of ceramic in Percy Beck, River Tees, Barnard Castle. It was face down and I thought it was just another piece of white pot. Delighted to discover it was stained with journey and age with part of a 3D pattern still in tact.
After a thorough clean I wasn't sure what to do with the piece so stored it for another time. I came across the shard recently with it's striking stains, shape and texture.
I gently sanded the piece, making sure to keep the original shape. The front glaze seemed completely gone but through hand buffing the shine started to come back. I've protected the sides and back with Eco Friendly Sealant.
I'll never know what this has come from but possibly an ornate dish, but I do know I found it on a lovely cold January day in 2021 where has been journeying along Percy Beck, heading for The River Tees.
The finished piece isn't meant to be perfect but instead retain the original character of the ceramic found by chance. Including marks and scratches, all part of the history, journey and new beginnings.
Shard measures approximately 40mm x 20mm x 5mm.
