Ceramic discovered
The River Tees
Barnard Castle
Co Durham

Handcrafted into Pendant
March 2026
I love collecting anything broken, lost or found by chance. A small patch of ground beside
The River Tees gets boggy during heavy rains. The downpours expose all sorts of broken
pot, glass, bits of pipes and wonderful oyster shells. Wonderful mudlark finds.
I found a piece of ceramic, sitting face up, striking blue pattern. After a thorough clean I
started to sand the edges. Sadly the glaze chipped and I had to clip the piece into a
smaller shape.
I sand and polish by hand using eco friendly textured cloths, this allows for the piece to
evolve naturally. This unique pendant created from found by chance mudlark ceramic is
one of my favourite pieces, striking colour, not perfect and full of times gone by.
The finished piece isn’t meant to be perfect but instead retain part of the original
character, including marks and scratches, all part of the history of the materials used.
Ceramic and Sterling Silver is either recycled or repurposed and often show tiny marks
left by the process of creation and recycling.
Pendant measures approximately 24 mm x 18mm (widest) x 2mm
Hanging on 18 inch chain made from recycled sterling silver.
Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue.
Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production.
Complete with short bio and FSC®-certified gift bag.
