Full description

This is a very special pen - one of only four turned sea-glass pens known to exist. I have used the same two-piece twist pen pattern that I have used in some of my seashell pens. These turned sea-glass pens take in excess of 10 hours to make. Construction is very similar to the seashell pens, in that each piece of glass is first glued into place on the chassis tube before being cast into resin, and as fiddly and time-consuming as that is, it really is the easy part! Turning on the lathe takes over ten hours (as compared to 30-45 minutes for wood variants), using highly specialised tools to avoid shattering the glass. Predominantly green glass, with a couple of brown and clear pieces, the glass was found on the Sands of Wright, South Ronaldsay, the pen comes with is own Moroccan Thuya (too-ya) wood presentation box. Made from the burl wood of the tree, it makes the perfect companion for this exquisite little piece of Orkney. There is only one other of these pens available, so this really is a very rare collectors pen. As these pens are so difficult to make, I will only make more by special order, so this is your chance to get your hands on a very rare thing indeed. The pen weighs 38g, is135mm long, about 12mm diameter and uses a standard Cross slimline refill.

Postage is UK only. Overseas customers please contact me before buying. All my pens are sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery, and usually reach you the next working day.
