Full description

Small bud or specimen vase hand thrown on the pottery wheel and half dip glazed in a rich green blue oribe glaze. The vase has lovely rounded base and shoulder and a top collared to a small opening.

The lower half is left unglazed to show the raw texture of the clay, tool marks from the making process and speckles of iron in the clay which have reacted in the extreme heat of the kiln.

The top half has been dipped diagonally in an oribe glaze which once fired results in a deep green blue colour which changes in the light like the iris of an eye. Along the edge of the glaze there is a faint orangey brown band where the clay is toasted by the presence of the glaze. Transparent glaze on the inside allows it to hold water.

Ideal for showing off a single cut flower or stem from your garden or a dried flower or seed pod.

Size: 17cm tall, 6cm wide, 1cm wide at the rim

The base is stamped with my makers mark.
