I have a background in fashion and textiles so I always relish the opportunity to create a fabric effect. In this case I wanted to convey the shimmering yet soft silk fabric. The metallic paint added an extra texture. This is a handbag shape I have seen somewhere so I sketched it from memory. My daughter has the other bag in this pair so that is why I have called this one Harriet's Handbags as well.

Full description
Blue silk handbag painting features an elongated shimmering silk fabric evening handbag with stitched detail. There is a silver metallic shoulder chain and rectangular clasp on the rigid top bar and a glimpse of pale pink lining. The background has been left white with some shadowing at the base of the bag. I painted this in my Norfolk studio. It is mounted and sealed. The overall measurements are 38.5cm x 31cm and the internal measurement is 26.5cm x 19cm. I have called this one 'Harriet's Handbags I'.
