Though I do not identify as a witch, I find myself very much inspired by their various roles throughout history.
The feminist in me loves that witches were the educated women well before women were allowed to be formally educated. They were the healers, the crafters. The highly skilled makers of things.
The spiritual relationship and appreciation they have with the natural world is something that I very much can relate to and the symbolism associated with paganism and witchcraft has crept into my work for many years.
So when I finally decided to take the plunge and create art dolls, witches were my first choice.
Though they do take a very long time to make, I like to combine the various skills I have acquired into larger projects and crating these dolls is a perfect way to do that. I loved making the crocheted details for this one and I have so many more ideas for witch dolls going forward.

I've decided the name of this one of a kind collectable witch doll is Bronwyn, but you can call her whatever you like.
Bronwyn was sculpted with polymer clay and painted. Her dress is made of cotton fabrics with some tatting on the hem and her hat and shawl were both crocheted by me.
The handmade book that she holds can be removed and customised by the buyer as all pages inside are blank.
She measures approximately 34cm tall from her feet to the top of her hat in a permanent seated position.
She does not require a stand as she is able to stay in an upright, seated position on her own.
This witch is an art doll, meant to be displayed as a decorative item only. She is not a toy and is not intended for children.
She has been made in a smoke free and pet free household.
All items are posted with tracking.
