Full description
English countryside tote bag. This delightful tote bag has an appliqué and hand-embroidered design depicting a scene of English countryside fields and hills in summer. The lower part of the bag is made from golden-yellow fabric and the upper part from blue fabric. The golden-yellow lower front depicts a corn field full of poppies in the foreground of the scene. The larger poppies are hand-cut from red felt and attached with black button centres. The smaller ones are hand-embroidered french knots. Behind this field is an appliqué series of further fields on hills, made from a variety of fabrics in shades of green, golden-yellow and cream. I've added numerous little appliqué trees in a few shades of green. I've used french knots to embroider sheep in two of the fields, and clusters of yellow and lilac wild meadow flowers in another. The blue upper front depicts the sky, to which I've added an appliqué cloud. The bag is lined with rich gold satin.
This English countryside tote bag is a piece of textile art with a practical use. The hand-embroidered detailing adds a special finishing touch. The bag would be ideal for special occasions.
The approximate measurements of the tote bag are:
14 inches (36cm) high x 12.5 inches (32cm) wide x 3 inches (8cm) across the base. The handles are of a length that can be worn on the shoulder or hand-carried.
