Ever since I was a child, I always associate picking lavender with summer, in the same way as I think of strawberries and cream or sandcastles on the beach. I can clearly remember helping to strip the tiny flowers off the stalks, thinking what a fiddly job it was, and can keenly remember the smell of lavender in the house for hours afterwards. Making lavender bags today carries on the same tradition and the lavender fragrance in the winter is a gorgeous reminder of summer days.
I grew up with a mother who was a huge fan of Laura Ashley; each year we would pore over the new catalogue when it arrived in the post and eagerly look through the new designs. I still love the vintage ditsy patterns and they work perfectly in this jug design. It's also a great way of using up tiny snippets of fabric which would otherwise go to waste.
All embroidery is hand-stitched and each piece is cut by hand and then hand-appliqued, so no two bags will ever be exactly the same!

Full description
A natural linen lavender bag with a hand-appliqued jug motif hand-cut from an oddment of vintage Laura Ashley floral fabric in either pink or blue. I have added hand-embroidered daisies to the design using embroidery silks. Finished with a pink and cream striped vintage style ribbon for hanging in your wardrobe, or simply pop in a drawer to fragrance your clothes. Filled with new polyester wadding and a goodly handful of English lavender picked from my own garden in Norfolk.
