I have always loved mid-century patterns, particularly florals in oranges, reds and browns. When I began painting in gouache I wanted to create some folk-style floral paintings, and I immediately went for those mid-century palettes I had always loved, adding bright colours with contrasting hints of brown, peach and beige. I love how cheerful this image turned out to be!
