How the Hare Became was inspired by ancient folklore... of a hare that falls in love with the moon. The landscape in this painting is local to me, it was a very stormy day with a dark sky, amazing clouds and yet very bright light in the fields. The plants featured are very much of the west country...the ferns and cow parsley as well as the rowan trees...protection against witches.

Original design created with acrylic paint on canvas.

A square card (140mm x 140mm) printed digitally on 330gsm card and hand finished. Supplied with a white envelope and a clear cellophane wrapper. Blank inside for your personal message.

I didn't plan this painting...the landscape came first, then the hare and then the plants...it just grew organically. Folklore, myths and fairy tales have often provided inspiration for my paintings. Is it day or night? and what are the swallows fleeing from... I love the thought that the sun becomes the moon and the hare is in love.
