The visitors and residents in our garden are a constant source of interest and entertainment - the Song Thrush is one of my favourites.
There’s one that sits on top of the fence watching the Bluetits and Sparrows on the bird feeder, politely waiting until they’ve finished before helping herself. She’s bigger than them of course, so maybe she’s a little shy?
And despite being larger, she’s also surprisingly hard to spot as she grazes underneath in the grass and leaves for lunch. So this little picture is the result of my observations, I think she’s lovely...

Full description
A small embroidered picture featuring a Song Thrush.
This little picture was stitched by hand with individual strands of thread onto a soft cotton background. The details of the arrow-shaped markings of the Thrush’s breast are clear, and the embroidery silks gleam and reflect the light making it look almost 3D. There’s a glint in the eye!
I re-used a lovely old frame I found that is a smooth light coloured wood with a gilt edge and grey detail. It complements my little Thrush perfectly, although it does have some signs of wear despite my restoration -all adding to the character of the final item.
I photographed it in natural light without the glass for clarity and with the glass in place and a hook on the back it is ready for display. The work measures just over 3x3 cms and the overall frame measures just over 10x10 cms.
A perfect gift for a gardener or bird watcher, or as a treat for yourself, if you’ve been good!
