Unique handmade pottery thrown on my potter's wheel.
This large vase is made from stoneware which means it is very durable. It was first thrown then left until it is leather hard, turned (trimmed), the shell imprints were added and my makers mark. Once dry it is bisque fired then glazed and fired a second time at 1220 oC.
All glazes are lead free. Three glazes are applied. Inside is a clear gloss glaze, mat creamy glaze and a turquoise blue. Where these glazes meet they interact to make a range of colours. There is added texture in this layer as well as the texture of the shells.
