Original clay roof tile hand painted suggesting medieval brick work design incorporating part copy of a 17th Century Deed. The mortar is painted in such a way as to frame the scorched document and provide a 3d effect.
The tile displays wonderful texture and warm terracotta tones. It is unique due to the way it has been fired and many years of exposure to the elements and This would have been hand fired approximately 200-400 years ago and once forming part of a period property. Some original lime mortar is still present on the back.
Robust Hemp/Synthetic rope is used for strength to hang the tile.

The measurements are : 165x245x30mm(allowing for rope)

I have always found period properties and the materials used of great interest. Clay roof tiles manufactured centuries ago are an impressive and robust product, with great texture and terracotta tones. Searching out the best tiles from old reclamation yards and up-cycling them into something unique gives me a great deal of pleasure.
