As documented on my instagram, this art quilt was the result of experimantal painting with fabric dyes to create the Magnolia flower branch. The branch was then applied to a firmer decor fabric with a pattern in the weave.
Hand embroidery defines the textures in the branch further and oilpaints and organza highlight the flower petals. Further embellishment with miniature english pieced hexies made from my collection of experimantal,dyed, painted and stitched fabric samples were then added.

The piece was then fully worked in hand embroidery, creating a highly tactile textured surface.
I have lost count of the amount of hours I spent on this piece! I hope it may be what you are looking for. Could be mounted onto canvas, framed behind glass or hung on its own with a dowel using the loops I have stitched to the back.
