St. Stephens Day is more commonly known as Boxing Day...the day of the hunt, for the fox and the wren. Since Celtic times the hunting of the wren has been celebrated on the 26th December. The captured wren (now a fake one!) was place on top of a decorated pole and paraded through the streets. And Boxing Day is probably the most important meet of the year for the hunt...the fox and the wren are brothers in arms on this day in the midst of winter. The landscape is very much the west country.

St. Stephens Hunt is from my Wintership series which is based on winter folklore and fairy tales.
Original design drawn on paper with black ink, watercolour and acrylic paints.
A square card (140mm x 140mm) printed digitally on 330gsm card and hand finished. Supplied with a white envelope and a clear cellophane wrapper. Blank inside for your personal message.
