Full description
This bird is hand made and measures 10cm high and 13cm long. It is made from white earthenware clay and carved before being fired in an electric kiln, I then paint on 4 layers of raku glaze, which when dry is wiped back leaving the glaze only in the carved indents, it is then fired again in a gas kiln, then at a 1,000 degrees it is taken out and smoked in a container with sawdust, this makes any unglazed part of the bird a black/greyish colour. It has been polished with bees wax.
