Description

A small red porcelain jar with white spots reflecting the melting and flow of the glaze around the stamped pattern. The glaze is transparent white where thin showing the whiteness of the porcelain body. This hand-built jar is perfect for jewelry, spices, condiments, herbs or small precious items. The jar was made with a UK porcelain and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable.
The jar measures approximately 11cm tall and 8cm wide. It is dishwasher safe and the bottom is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9814.

Inspiration

I like making lidded jars because I am told by returning customers that they often get used regularly. I want to engage with people by providing them with something thoughtfully handmade that usefully fits into their daily routine. I provide a well-fitting lid to add to the pleasure of its use. The surfaces have hand and auroch stamps that relate to my interest in the cave paintings of prehistory. This jar was also inspired by my long-term interest oriental copper red glazes.
