I adore birds. I absolutely knew I wanted to make some bird related festive cards, and what could be more classic than the partridge-pear combination from the twelve days of christmas?
However, I decided I wanted to do something really colourful, fun and just a little bit alternative with the classic icon, so this partridge has a touch of the glam-rock about him, and is a bit of a quail-partridge-hybrid with his decorative star crest.
The drawing started out as a design for a linocut, but was quickly realised into a fun and funky digital design working from printed papers I scanned into the computer.
Hopefully these cards help spread some festive cheer, I feel like we could all use it in these uncertain times.
