Print and pattern holds a special place in my heart. I also love to play with texture within my work.
What I particularly love about working with clay is its natural beauty. I try to enhance this by leaving some areas of it unglazed. The look and feel of this particular design reminds me of Dolly Mixture sweets.
Each 'freckle' was applied to the pot individually by hand using black underglaze and a carefully selected paintbrush. It's slow, meditative work that I can lose myself in.

Colour pops and freckle dots to brighten up any grey day.
The Dolly Mixture design takes inspiration from the classic sweets, combining freckle dots and splashes of colour with white stoneware clay.
This little pot can be used as a tea bowl or little snack dish. I'd also recommend using it as a little granola pot with some nice Greek yogurt or even as a little planter.
It's made using white stoneware clay, thrown on the wheel. I applied black 'freckle' dots on the outside in black underglaze, then pops of colour and gloss in coral pink and orange, leaving the rest of the exterior exposed. It's really nice to hold. The inside is coated with shiny white glaze, so it's glossy.
This bowl has been fired at a high temperature to ensure it's hygienic and suitable for food/drink usage.
Things to note:
- Signed 'Gane' on the base
- Best to hand wash
- Size approx: 7cm H x 8.5cm W (middle is wider)
- wooden spoon not included :)
