I knew from the moment I'd finished turning this vessel on the wheel that it had to be a hanging planter. Its curves are too good to hide as a regular bowl, you need to appreciate it at all angles!
I'm a big fan of the buff clay's texture and tone and I like playing with pattern and mark making, so I masked off areas by painting wax onto the surface. I then dunked it in a big bucket of shiny white stoneware glaze. The results were rough and smooth sections – just like milk and biscuits!
Plants can make a real difference to your space. I've found that having leafy greens at various heights and places around your work or home environment can be calming as well as really nice to look at.

The textures on this pot are just like milk and biscuits: a winning combo.
Au Lait is a hand-thrown hanging planter pot made using buff stoneware clay. I applied my pattern by hand using a wax-resist method. The planter was then dunked into a shiny white stoneware glaze.
This hanging planter pot has been fired at a high temperature to ensure it can handle storing water in.
Things to note:
- Signed 'Gane' on the base
- Best to hand wash
- Approx 7cm H x 9cm W (middle is wider)
- Three holes for hanging, cord not included
