LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY GREETINGS TO INCLUDE.

I really enjoy the process of throwing and shaping bowls. When the bowl is turned over there are blue glaze runs over textural decoration, an individual stamped pot number and my personal mark, a small letter P. The bowl was fired with a rutile glaze that pools inside to cream and blue, punctuated with rich brown streaks of brush-applied iron oxide. The colours and texture were inspired by the impressionist painting style used by VanGogh. This bowl would make a personal statement on a table or shelf with or without contents and invites discussion of personal visual associations. Alternatively it could be used for cooking and serving food.

Full description

A stoneware bowl with variations of blue-green reflecting the melting of the glaze on the texture marks and its interaction with the clay minerals and iron oxide decoration. The glaze was applied in several layers to obtain the required thickness range. The pale tan and cream inside is where the glaze has pooled. The orange brown streaks derives from brush-applied iron oxide. The bowl was thrown with a UK stoneware and after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable. The wheel thrown bowl will add a perfect display accent in any domestic setting. It can be used as an eye-catching decorative feature on a shelf or table. It could alternatively function as a serving dish for fruit, hot food or salad.

- The bowl measures approximately 6cm tall and 22cm wide and is food, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe.

- The bottoms is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9713.
