I was inspired by a need to show a single flower at is solitary best.
I wanted to test my ability to throw a fine long neck on a round vessel. The trick is to not leave too much clay in the base, so there is enough to make the neck without leaving the base too heavy. The idea of creating facets came afterwards, adding a texture to the base to better show the galze.

Full description
I love how the heat of the summer sun is reflected in the facets of the base of this vase, showing off the crystalline shiny blue glaze which holds all the colours of the sky from the palest blue to almost midnight. The long fine neck hold this in contrast with the topaz glaze. This vase is designed to show a single flower (or small bunch) off to its best effect. There is a tactile quality to the facets of the base and I can't stop rolling it in my hands!
My potter's mark is on the base.
I take time with careful packing using recyclable materials, so don't be surprised if this item doesn't arrive for about a week.
It is hand made, thrown on a wheel, in stoneware clay.
It is fired to 1235oC and will hold water and is heat resistant and food safe.
It is about 18cm tall and about 9cm diameter.
