Full description

A handmade hexagonal shaped box suitable for storing small needlework projects such as cross-stitch, embroidery and related haberdashery. Sometimes referred to as an etui, a French word meaning “an ornamental rigid container for holding needles, scissors, thimbles, etc.”

The outside of the box is constructed from firm recycled board. Each piece is covered with a blue/green/yellow floral cotton. The lid has a lightly padded top. The inside of the box has padded liners constructed from thin card, wadding and covered in a toning green/white cotton. Three of these have added bands to hold items such as needle packs, button cards, embroidery cottons, etc. The inside base, inside of the lid and fabric webs between the six sections have been made from the green/white cotton. These webs allow the box to expand out when the lid is removed from the box to provide more access.

All pieces for the construction of this box are individually hand cut.

Measurements: Closed: 7.25”(18cm) dia. Lid

6.5”(16.5cm) dia. Base

Open: approx. 14.5”(37cm) dia.

Sewing accessories shown in the photographs are NOT included.
