The front of this generously-sized cushion is made from a lightly-glazed vintage chintz fabric called 'Hydrangea Bird' from the 1980s by the well-established design house GP and J Baker.
It features an exotic bird and butterfly perched on a bough surrounded by beautiful hydrangea flower heads in lovely shades of mulberry and pink, intertwined with bright green leaves on a pale yellow-cream background.
The rear of the cushion is made from a modern silk-mix fabric in complementary colours of burgundy and acid green in wide stripes.
The mulberry coloured zip opening is on the back of the cushion and all raw fabric edges have been overlocked for a professional finish.
It measures approximately 56 x 54 cm and is filled with a 60 x 60 British-made feather pad which provides for a lovely plump cushion.
I found this piece of vintage chintz in my local charity shop and recognised it instantly as the Hydrangea Bird pattern, as I had recently purchased a dress from H&M as part of their collaboration with GP and J Baker where furnishing fabric patterns have been reimagined onto items of clothing.
I have to say, the pattern works beautifully either on your sofa or about your person ............
