My shop will be closed from 15th December until 26th December 2024. Wishing you all a peaceful and relaxing Christmas.
Due to updated UK government and EU regulations I am not able lo accept orders from Northern Ireland or to ship there. Apologies to those in that part of the UK.
In the Myriad Collection I play with three elements – the black background of the stoneware clay, a rectangular panel with sgraffito curved lines, and a slim rectangular band at right angles to the panel. In the panels and bands are overlapping colours of liquid clay applied with a natural sponge so that they run and blend before firing. The inspiration comes from the intermingled colours of a rag rug that my father and I made together one year of long winter evenings in my childhood. It took its place by my bedside and I would wriggle my toes into it in the morning to make the coloured pieces lie a different way!

This black stoneware ceramic vase shows off the lovely mingling colours of the handpainted decorative panel and band which stretches around the top. Lemon, yellow ochre, blue and sage green are my chosen shades, and I have incised some curving lines (a technique known as sgraffito) into the panel to reveal the black clay beneath. Georgina is 17 cms tall with an ironstone glazed interior, and I have picked up the yellow ochre colour in the decoration to show off yellow rudbeckia, golden rod and achillea flowers in one of the images. A cheery display for dull days!
