A strongly textured stoneware goblet with strong colour variations reflecting the melting of the glaze over the texture marks. The glaze is transparent olive and tan where thin and blue where thick. This hand-made goblet is perfect for wine or sake. The goblet was made with a UK stoneware and, after biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable.
- The goblet measures approximately 11cm tall and 8cm wide and is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe .
- The bottoms is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9698
I enjoy making goblets because of their traditional association with celebration of special occaisions and social interaction. I want to engage with customers and their guests by providing them with something thoughtfully handmade. The textured glaze reflects my passion for impressionist paintings , particularly the brushwork and colour ranges in vanGogh's paintings where the adjacent strokes merge in the eye to provide a vibrant pattern of colour. The rutile glaze on textural marks of this goblet creates a similar effect and there is an appropriate sense of liquid flow associated with the vertical glaze streaks.
