I made this Dorset button pin to form a neutral closure for a shawl or wrap front cardigan.
The style is a traditional design of Dorset button known as the Old Blandford and it is worked in hand spun grey brown Shetland wool and finished with a unique, hand crafted copper pin.
The button is worked on a wooden ring measuring approximately 7 cm in diameter and the copper pin measures approximately 9 cm. A smaller button measuring 5.5 cm diameter with a 7.5 cm pin is also available. The work at the centre of the button and the soft nature of the metal pin gives enough flexibility to be able to easily secure any open work garment.
This pin is also available in kit form so that you can work one in your own choice of yarn.
