Full description
I have woven this lovely soft drapey scarf on a rigid heddle loom using hand dyed, hand spun wool and baby alpaca, that I have spun on my handmade spinning wheel. The wool and baby alpaca fibre was dyed using natural plant extracts using the solar dyeing method which took two weeks in the spring sunshine. I used a commercial pale grey 30% silk and 70% baby alpaca yarn for the warp and the hand spun hand dyed yarn for the weft. The natural extracts and solar dyeing method produced lovely subtle shades of pale green, pale pink and pale teal. The scarf was woven using plain weave to allow the beautiful textures and colours to shine through.
The scarf measures 175 cm by 18.5 cm including the fringes.
Handwash gently, after a gentle rinse, roll in a towel and gently squeeze water out or place in a lingerie bag with a short spin. Warm iron. Due to this item being hand dyed there may be a little dye residue when washing. Store away from the sun.
