Full description
This is a small sized literary bonsai tree, handcrafted using real book pages from Michael Morpurgo's brilliant book War Horse
Measuring approximately 5" inches tall (12cm and about 11cm x 10cm width and depth). It is set on a coaster sized piece of slate, with foam feet, measuring approximately 10cm square.
My literary bonsai trees are all made with a papier-mache base, over which I add lines from the books and decorate with leaves, flowers and other trimmings to suit.
This literary bonsai tree has two thin curled trailing branches and has been decorated with little green paper leaves and book page leaves that have all been hand-cut, with seven deep red paper roses set around the branches.
It has been finished with a paper sealant and two coats of acrylic varnish, which will help prevent fading and also stiffens the leaves so that the will not rip or tear with normal handling. My trees end up being far more sturdy than one may initially imagine due to the many layers of sealants used.
