There's a little red rose bush at the back of the flower bed that usually gets totally obscured by more vigorous neighbours, so much so that we don't often get to see the flowers in bloom. This year however, we've had a bit of a sort-out and consequently can admire our lovely rose as originally intended...
This is my attempt at re-creating the beautiful flowers to enjoy year-round.

Full description
A single Red Rose - hand stitched brooch with velvet edge.
This little piece of detailed embroidery was sewn by hand with individual strands of threads in various reds, crimson and greens onto a background of soft stone-coloured cotton. It was then carefully edged with a soft, red velvet ribbon which frames it and gives the piece structure.
I've tried to show the velvety nature of the deep coloured, curling petals and the toothed edges of the leaves. I'm interested how the colours seem to alter through the day as the light changes, sometimes it's really bright and vivid, sometimes soft and deep.
I photographed it in natural light to show the colours as accurately as possible, but bear in mind that screens vary. It measures just over 3 x 4.5 cms and has a brooch pin back with a safety catch for security. I'll dispatch it in a little white organza bag.
An ideal keepsake for someone special.
