I love being able to go out and see wildlife in it's natural habitat. I love to come home with a sketchbook, camera and head full of ideas! I use my Granny's old Bernina sewing machine as my drawing tool along with bits of applique to capture the spirit as well as the image of the wildlife I observe.

Noisy, fast (and quite smelly) there's nothing quite like being near a gannet colony, watching them dive bomb the water and then return to precariously placed nests. They're really quite large birds and there's something very beautiful about the soft, graduated yellow of their heads and their bright blue beaks and eyes.
This portrait is drawn with my sewing machine and then subtle colour is added with some watered down fabric paint, a technique I really enjoy but which is quite nerve wracking!
This unique embroidered piece comes mounted in an acid free white card mount with backing, ready to frame. The mounted artwork will arrive with you in a cellophane wrapper and will be posted out in a padded envelope to protect it. The mount measures about 41 x 51 cm and the picture aperture measures 29 cm x 42 cm.
