LET ME KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY GREETINGS TO INCLUDE.

I really enjoy the whole process of throwing and shaping octagonal bowls. There is plenty of scope for freedom of expression with regard to form, there is an upper surface for interesting flow of the glaze and an underside for adding an element of pleasure. When the bowl is turned over textural decoration, an individual stamped pot number and my personal mark, a small letter P will be seen. The bowl was fired with a tan glaze that pools inside to cream-blue, punctuated with rich brown streaks of brush-applied iron oxide. The outer wall has stamped marks of fish on alternate faces.. The underside is more lightly glazed to give a transparent tan near the foot with decorative blue runs. This bowl would make a personal statement on a table or shelf with or without contents and invites inquisitive handling. Equally it could be directly functional for cooking and serving food.

Full description

An elegant stoneware bowl showing variations of colour reflecting the melting and downward flow of the glaze, its thickness and its interaction with the clay minerals and the iron oxide decoration. The pale blue and cream is where the glaze has thickly pooled. The orange brown derives from brush-applied iron oxide decoration. This wheel thrown bowl will be perfect for display in any domestic or commercial setting. Alternatively, it can be used for hot or cold food with the decoration providing a finishing surprise when emptied. The bowl was thrown with a UK stoneware and shaped octagonal while still soft. After biscuit firing and glazing the piece was fired to 1300C to make it impermeable and very durable. The glaze was applied in several layers to obtain the required quantity for runs and pooling..

-: All of my work is one-of- a-kind and made by hand.

- This bowl is food, oven, microwave, and dishwasher safe.

- The bowl measures approximately 6cm tall and 17cm wide.

- The bottoms is impressed with my seal, the letter P, and its identity number 9724.
