I wanted to design a comfortable scarf for a child which would not fall off. I trialed many designs :too heavy a head, too many legs, wings.....all got in the way. Also, it had to be able to be knitted by beginners and not just experienced knitters.

How to knit a unicorn mini scarf / cowl.
Unicorns are magical creatures, and who would not want a cuddly unicorn mini scarf /cowl?
The tail of this unicorn gets tucked in through its mouth, keeping the wearer snug and warm, without it falling off.
The scarf is knitting flat using two needles. Beginning at the back of the head and knitted towards the tail, it is knitted in one piece except for the ears and eyes, which are knitted separately and sewn on at the end.
Choose a super soft snuggly yarn for this scarf and knit to a loose gauge.
NOTE the curly tail is crocheted and not knitted.
