I saw two bowls that could put be together in America and it was called a chip & dip. I thought it was a brilliant idea and so came up with this design of two bowls joined when I got home.
I made a plaster stamp from a piece of gorse I picked on Dartmoor not far from my studio. I then press this into the mug before firing. Then I paint the gorse flowers and cover them in wax so they resist the tundra glaze. I have a love/hate relationship with this glaze Tundra, I love the way it looks when fired, highlighting edges in brown. I hate working with it as it solidifies between uses and has to be stirred for ages before being usable again.

Full description
A chip and dip bowl (crisp and dip) glazed in tundra featuring Dartmoor gorse. The larger outer bowl (crisp) measures 21cm diameter at the top and 14cm diameter at the base by 10cm tall. The inner smaller bowl (dip) measures 10cm diameter by 8cm high.
