I have always had a thing for the lovely Japanese cross –over aprons but couldn’t justify the cost of the linen to make one for myself. Being on a journey of becoming more environmentally aware, I decided to have a go at making one out of an old men’s shirt. My pattern has taken a bit of tweaking but I am very happy with the end result. I would like to introduce you to my Re-loved aprons.
All my Re-loved aprons are made from either 100% cotton, 100% linen or linen/cotton blend shirts from local charity shops which are all checked and given a good wash before use. Environmentally friendly and helping charity = double brownie points!

This yummy 100% cotton needlecord apron was a man's shirt in a previous life.
It would make a lovely gift for the gardener, baker or crafter in your life and an even better treat for yourself!
It measures approx. 70cm from top to bottom at the front and would be a great fit for a size Medium.
(I am 5'6 and a size 12-14 for size reference)
The comfy cross-over straps are made from the shirt front and some bright and cheery co-ordinating fabric. The handy pocket with the same fabric is made from the shirt sleeves – nothing is wasted.
Please remember that these aprons are re-loved and may have a few blemishes (like where the pocket used to be on this particular one which is on the back). On the plus side, they are super cute, are helping the environment and charities and are not likely to shrink.
