Shop Announcement:

Hello and welcome to my Folksy shop!

I've been making for others since 2013 and am in the process of opening up my shop here. If you'd like to see what my customers have said about my work, you can read more than 1,000 reviews on my web site: http://www.thecrimsonrabbit.co.uk/ (click 'Reviews' on the bar at the top of the page).

In addition to the UK, I'm happy to ship most items to Europe, the US, Canada, Japan and Australia - just message me for a shipping quotation.

Many of the pieces I make are made to order and the shipping time is a 'worse case scenario' estimate - I will often make and send items quicker than indicated, although things do sometimes slow down at busy times. If you want something urgently, just message me and I'll confirm if I can meet your deadline.

I'm more active on Instagram than anywhere else: https://www.instagram.com/the_crimson_rabbit/ but you can always find me online elsewhere: my blog is here: www.thecrimsonrabbit.co.uk, my facebook page here: www.facebook.com/thecrimsonrabbitpage and my Pinterest addiction is evidenced here: http://www.pinterest.com/crimsonrabbit/

You can subscribe to my newsletter to hear about new designs and offers and to be notified when my shop is fully stocked! https://mailchi.mp/069210225db4/thecrimsonrabbit

Description

The shawl is a generous size at just over 2 metres long (83 inches) and 43cm (17 inches) wide and can be worn in a variety of ways. It is made from 100% mulberry silk yarn in a crochet lace stitch. The yarn is hand dyed in small batches and is a very pretty lilac pink colour. There is a natural variegation of shades to the yarn, that is a feature of hand dyed yarns and you can see this best in the second photograph where the shawl is tied and shown full length. The yarn dyer's name for the shade is Taking a Bath of Roses they have a somewhat eccentric and fabulous sense of humour!

As with all silk yarns, there is a lovely sheen to this yarn, particularly when under stronger light very pretty. The stitch pattern I've used creates ripples and waves throughout the length of the shawl and because of the lovely light nature of the yarn, it falls is lovely soft folds; even on the edges of the shawl, which are perfectly straight silk moves with an elegance all of its own.

The shipping costs shown for this item include the 'signed for' service in the UK and a tracking service for International orders. Please note that I do automatically refund postal cost overages for international items.

Inspiration

The basic design of this wrap was my very first crochet shawl design and I've made it many times in different yarns and to different dimensions. I adore the gentle waving shape of the stitch pattern and love to see how it looks in different yarns and worked to different gauges.
