Driving from Wensleydale over Bellerby Moor on the way to Reeth in Swaledale provides the most breathtaking torrent of wild and beautiful scenery. Stone walls, open moors and wide expanses of sky with skudding clouds. This was the inspiration for this piece. This road is also popular with cyclists exploring the Yorkshire Dales and the famous Tour de Yorkshire.
I first wet felted the piece with locally sourced wool tops, plenty of natural soap and water and elbow grease. Then once it was dry I added detail with machine embroidery, hand stitching and needle felting with views of sheep and wonderful Wensleydale right outside my window.
