Creating original and unique woolly Art & Crafts in the Yorkshire Dales

At school my art teacher told me I used too much colour! As a mature student I studied Art at foundation and degree level, I had an exhibition in Waterstones York and 3 paintings in the York Open at the City Art Gallery. I've dabbled in ceramics, acrylic painting, printmaking, textiles and pretty much any other creative avenue. Work got in the way for a number of years and more recently I've refound my love for textiles. Felt is such a wonderful tactile medium, allowing me to paint in swathes of fibres and then embellish to my hearts content. I live with my husband who is also creative and makes wonderful yarn hooked pictures from my own designs, which may well appear in the shop soon! When we're not creating textile art, we love playing music on guitar and ukulele and a couple of the songs I've written have even made it onto BBC radio.

Buying from me

Here in the Yorkshire Dales, sheep and views are a powerful inspiration. Rowena 'paints' in felt, loving the transformation from fibre to felt image, embelishing with needle felting, free machine and hand stitching. Pete creates original yarn hooked pictures using Axminster wool sourced from Yorkshire mills. We also enjoy singing and playing music.
