Large Perforation Pyrite Ammonite Fossil Keyring or handbag charm with Goldtone findings.
This fossil Ammonite has over a period of millions of years become Pyrite, so a metal like structure, which makes this little fossil very tough and strong and unusually weighty for its size and is very dark grey, almost black in colour, but also with golden bronze hints and with great definition.
This lovely Pyrite Fossil Ammonite was located with a natural large round perforation in the centre, making it ideal for mounting onto the goldtone triangle bail and has been teamed up with goldtone curb style keychain and goldtone 2.5cm diameter split ring, to make the item useable as a Keyring or handbag charm.
Lyme Regis, in Dorset, where this fossil was located, is known as the Jurassic coast and is wonderfully rich and abundant in these wonderful Ammonite fossils.
Approximate measurements: The whole keyring, including the ammonite, chain and 2.5cm diameter split ring measures approx 72mms in length. The little ammonite is approx 22mms by 18mms by 9mms at its widest points.
As this is a natural pyrite fossil, it is robust but not unbreakable.
Oxidation and colour change can occur.
