A Hand of Glory was the ritual of using a hanged man's hand to send a victim into a coma. After being dried and cured the fingers were covered in wax and lit like a candelabra before being waved over the sleeping person.
Despite these gruesome origins the Hand of Glory is an enduring image of 20th Century superstition.

Full description

A hand made linocut print in a limited, numbered edition. Printed on handmade cotton rag paper with archival quality inks.

Each print is made carved and printed by hand in my home studio. This print is completely original and handmade using traditional linocut techniques. The design is hand drawn onto lino before being carved to create a unique linocut block. Each block is then printed by hand burnishing with archival inks onto fine paper.

The nature of lino as a medium means that the final results are unique to each finished print. Differences in the amount of ink, the pressure of the hand-burnishing technique I use and even the grain of the paper can change each work subtly. This leaves a unique connection between the final work and the artist.

This print is 19.5cm x 19.5cm.

It is sent unframed, wrapped in protective cellophane and backed by strong card.
