Setting out with the idea of making an autumn themed dish I built up a base of clear enamel on the copper then added a coat of chestnut brown.Over that I scattered a ring of yellow enamel an, in the centre, a pile of white. When the dish was at red hot, in the kiln, I disturbed the surface of the enamel with a steel point to make the unique, random patterning that decorates it. Depending on the way in which light strikes the dish the copper beneath the enamel shimmers and sparkles golden brown and modifies the tones of the brown and yellow.
The dish measures 83mm in diameter and is about 6mm deep. It would be suitable for a dressing table tray or to set off a flower display or as a table centrepiece.
