Welcome to my Folksy shop in which you will find a variety of hand-stitched accessories for you and your home, many of which make lovely (and easy-to-post) gifts. I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. Vintage linens and fabrics re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
A pretty, felted and embroidered field of poppies decorates this pincushion.
Sky blue wool fibers have been felted to a background of 'eco' felt (commercially produced from recycled plastic bottles)to represent sky with an area of green fibres for the poppy field. Stitching in fine cotton has been added to the sky to 'stabilise' the felting. Poppies have been cut from chunky yarn and felted to the background and their centres have been stitched in black cotton. Additional poppies have been stitched in cotton threads and red wool. A scattering of daisies have been embroidered in cotton threads. The pincushion has been stitched to the back panel, also of eco felt, in blanket stitch, using threads to match the areas of the design.
The pincushion is firmly stuffed with polyester filling.
